Edition: June 2009

OUR MISSION

The Counseling Center is dedicated to enhancing the

mental health of individuals, families, and groups through

a comprehensive  range of prevention, rehabilitation,

and treatment services, designed to meet individual needs.

(Mission Statement adopted by the Board of Trustees, 1990)

CASELOAD CONTINUES TO GROW

The Counseling Center is currently carrying an active caseload of 3,338 individuals. To address the needs of this group, The Center provided nearly 14,000 units of billable mental health services during the month of May.  Total services are running 2% above service levels for the prior year, despite the fact that the Center recently closed three active service programs.  New admissions for May totaled 171.

SPECIAL TRAINING

Two members of the Counseling Center’s Counseling and Psychotherapy program recently completed a 5-day training on evidence based practices in assisting veterans, especially those suffering from post traumatic stress disorder.  Mark Weaver, L.P.C.C. and Robert Wycoff, L.P.C., are both available for appointments in the Center’s Wooster office.  In addition, Michael Hamill, Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer, recently attended a training sponsored by the Ohio Department of Mental Health on Root Cause Analysis and its application to evaluating and learning from incident reports.

QUALITY ASSURANCE PLAN REVIEW

The Quality Assurance Committee of The Counseling Center recently completed a through review of the agency Quality Assurance Plan and is finalizing recommendations for revisions. The Plan outlines the process for assuring staff compliance with various operational and documentation standards, as well as outlining a number of evaluations which the organization will conduct each year to assess service access and acceptability.  Planned evaluations include: the wait time for initial service, communication with other providers, and clinical outcomes.

Comments or questions about the Quality Assurance Committee, or the Quality Assurance Plan can be addressed to Chief Clinical Officer Cindy Orlasky, Ph.D., at corlasky@ccwhc.org or (330) 264-9029.
