Text Box: NATIONAL DEPRESSION SCREENING DAY

Text Box: October includes national Depression Screening Day. Depression impacts over 18 million Americans each year; however, with proper treatment, most can recover. Some of the key
signs of depression include:

à a persistent sad, anxious, or “empty mood”
à sleeping too little or too much
à changes in appetite or weight
à loss of interest in most activities
à restlessness or irritability
à difficulty concentrating or making decisions
à fatigue and loss of energy
à feelings of guilt, hopelessness, or worthlessness
à thoughts of suicide or death

Persons who experience five or more of these symptoms for more than two weeks, or whose symptoms interfere with their normal daily routine, can call any of the Counseling Center’s
offices – Wooster (330-264-9029), Orrville (330-683-5106), Millersburg (330-674-6697) or Rittman (330-925-5466) to schedule a confidential assessment. For more information about
depression, or to schedule a speaker, contact Joy Stitzlein, L.I.S.W., Director of Community Education at the Wooster office.

Text Box: In 2007, persons aged 70 ½ and older may contribute up to $100,000 of their IRA to a charitable organization without paying any taxes on their withdrawal.  The Counseling Center’s Endowment Fund – The Counseling Center Fund for Children and Families—is one option for such contributions and a way of making sure that the Center continues to be able to make a difference in our community in the future.
