Meet Our Therapists
The Counseling Center provides individual, marital, family and group therapy to children adolescents and adults with diagnosable mental health or emotional problems. The focus is primarily on short-term strategic interventions, although persons needing longer-term support are also served. Outpatient services are provided at the following locations in Wayne and Holmes Counties.

Debra Beckstett, LISW-S, Therapist
Ms. Beckstett is a Licensed Independent Social Worker who received both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Ohio State University. She has been a therapist in the public and private sector for 30+ years. Ms. Beckstett has experience with adults and teens specializing in anxiety, depressive, adjustment, and trauma disorders. Other areas of specialty are stress management, relaxation therapies, and marital counseling. Ms. Beckstett works on Wednesday’s and Thursday’s at the Wooster office. |
Amanda Brewer, Ph.D., Psychologist
Dr. Brewer is an experienced clinician who likes challenging cases. Her expertise with sex offenders and sexual victims is well-known in the community. Dr. Brewer uses cognitive behavioral techniques, as well as Dialectical Behavior Therapy, in her work. She works in the Wooster and Orrville offices. |
Renae Chung, Ph.D., Psychologist
Dr. Chung obtained her doctorate in clinical psychology from The California School of Professional Psychology. She is a licensed psychologist who provides individual, group, and family psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and adults. Dr. Chung is particularly interested in treating distress due to trauma, helping people cope with loss and grief issues, and dealing with cross-cultural acculturation stressors. She works in the Wooster office. |
Steve Cisneros, MA, Therapist
Mr. Cisneros is completing his PhD in clinical psychology at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he trained as a cognitive-behavioral therapist. Mr. Cisneros is a generalist, but also specializes in mindfulness and acceptance-based therapies for the treatment of mood and anxiety disorders, including trauma. He provides individual, couples, and group therapy. His clinical/teaching/research interests also include: ADHD, addictions & recovery, emerging adulthood, guilt/shame/stigma, health and positive psychology. He enjoys working with people who feel different, including but not limited to: US veterans, LGBTQ and/or gender-nonconforming individuals, and people of color. Lastly, Mr. Cisneros can provide psychological services in both English and Spanish. He works in the Wooster office.

Ranada Cooper, Psy.D., Psychologist
Dr. Cooper earned her Master’s Degree in Social Science Administration at Case Western Reserve University-MSASS. She earned her Doctoral Degree at Illinois School of Professional Psychology in Schaumburg, Illinois. She is a licensed psychologist who provides individual and family counseling. She has over sixteen years of experience in the mental health field in various settings: outpatient, school-based, in-home, residential, psychiatric hospitalization, nursing home, and correctional facility settings. Her interests include conducting psychological evaluations and public speaking. She utilizes a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approach and is currently advancing her training in this area through The Cleveland Center for Cognitive Therapy. She works in the Wooster office.

Thomas Deiotte Jr. M.Ed., LPC, TherapistMr. Deiotte is currently a post-graduate student at Cleveland State University completing his Educational Specialist degree in Counseling. Mr. Deiotte earned his Master’s degree in School Counseling from John Carroll University, his Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Xavier University, and graduate certificates in Chemical Dependency Counseling and in Early Childhood Mental Health (ECMH) from Cleveland State University. Mr. Deiotte has an extensive amount of experience working with children, adolescents, and their families regarding trauma related to child abuse and neglect while employed with the State of Ohio. Mr. Deiotte enjoys working with children, adolescents, and adults who have experienced trauma due to abuse/neglect; disorders among school-aged children/adolescents; issues related to chemical dependency, and Obsessive Compulsive and Related Disorders. Mr. Deiotte focuses on a Humanistic person-centered approach to counseling and also utilizes Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy, and Solution Focus Therapy.

Rhonda Johnston, M.A., LPCC-S, Therapist
Ms. Johnston is a licensed professional clinical counselor who received her master’s degree in counseling from South University and her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Louisville. She provides individual and family therapy to adults and older adolescents. Ms. Johnston has worked extensively with trauma survivors and also has experience with a wide range of concerns such as anxiety, depression and grief. She uses a variety of treatment modalities including Solution Focused, Narrative and Cognitive-Behavioral methods. Ms. Johnston works part-time in the Wooster office. |
Sharon Kephart, MSW, LISW-S, Therapist
Ms. Kephart is an Independent Licensed Social Worker. Her master’s degree in social work was obtained from The University of Akron. Ms. Kephart works with adults and has experience in issues involving grief and loss, stress, anxiety, depression, abuse, and adjustment disorders. |
Mona Park, MS, LPCC, Therapist
Ms. Park is a licensed professional counselor who received her master’s in mental health counseling from Capella University and her bachelor’s in psychology from Ohio State University. She provides individual, group, couples, and family therapy. Ms. Park enjoys working with children, adolescents and adults involving mood, anxiety, conduct and trauma related disorders. Ms. Park uses Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy, Mindfulness and Reality Therapy. Ms. Park works in the Wooster office. |
Crystal Russell, LPC, CDCA, TherapistMs. Russell is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant who received her M.Ed. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Kent State University. Prior to this, Ms. Russell earned a B.A. in Integrated Language Arts 7-12 from Malone College (University) and taught middle and high school English for 7.5 years. Ms. Russell specializes in working with children and adolescents seeking assistance with personal and social concerns, educational and family concerns, as well as alcohol and drug counseling, consultation, diagnosis and treatment issues. Special areas of interest included (but not limited to): Autism Spectrum Disorder, Trauma Disorders, Behavioral Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Depressive Disorders, and LGBTQIA. Ms. Russell works in the Wooster and Millersburg office.

Bruce Sampsel, Ph.D., Psychologist
Dr. Sampsel earned his doctorate in clinical psychology from The University of Cincinnati. He has extensive experience providing psychological services to children, adolescents, adults, and families. He treats a variety of problems including mood and anxiety disorders, primarily using a cognitive-behavioral approach. |
Brittany A. Shannon, LPC
Ms. Shannon is a Licensed Professional Counselor who received her master’s degree in counseling from Ashland Theological Seminary and her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Muskingum College. Ms. Shannon works with children, adolescent, and adults including couples and family counseling. Ms. Shannon has experience working with variety of concerns including, trauma, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, and adjustment issues. She uses cognitive-behavioral therapy and narrative therapy along with a strong focus in play therapy. She works in the Wooster office.

Mark Weaver, MA, LPCC-S
Mr. Weaver is a professional clinical counselor who obtained his Master’s Degree from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and came to The Counseling Center in 1985. He has completed advanced training in cognitive therapy from The Cleveland Center for Cognitive Therapy and is a trained facilitator for The Incredible Years parenting program for parents of pre-school aged children, the Parent Project parenting program for parents of out of control adolescents, and the QPR suicide prevention program. He has experience in working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. Mr. Weaver works in the Millersburg office. |
