Meet Our Therapists
The Counseling Center provides individual, marital, family and group therapy to children adolescents and adults with diagnosable mental health or emotional problems. The focus is primarily on short-term strategic interventions, although persons needing longer-term support are also served. Outpatient services are provided at the following locations in Wayne and Holmes Counties.

Alisha Dennis-Brinson, MA, LPCC-S, LICDC-CS, Director
Mrs. Dennis-Brinson is a Licensed Professional Clinical counselor with supervision designation and a Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor with supervision designation. She prefers to work with patients age 12 and older. She previously worked in inpatient psychiatry and enjoys working with patients with a wide range of diagnosis. She enjoys providing individual and group therapy. Alisha specializes in treating anxiety, adjustments and transitions, stress management, women’s issues, social skills development, relationship/interpersonal concerns, and depression/mood disorders. |
Debra Beckstett, LISW-S, Therapist
Ms. Beckstett is a Licensed Independent Social Worker who received both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Ohio State University. She has been a therapist in the public and private sector for 30+ years. Ms. Beckstett has experience with adults and teens specializing in anxiety, depressive, adjustment, and trauma disorders. Other areas of specialty are stress management, relaxation therapies, and marital counseling. Ms. Beckstett works on Wednesday’s and Thursday’s at the Wooster office. |
Amanda Brewer, Ph.D., Psychologist
Dr. Brewer is an experienced clinician who likes challenging cases. Her expertise with sex offenders and sexual victims is well-known in the community. Dr. Brewer uses cognitive behavioral techniques, as well as Dialectical Behavior Therapy, in her work. She works in the Wooster and Orrville offices. |

Ranada Cooper, Psy.D., Psychologist
Dr. Cooper earned her Master’s Degree in Social Science Administration at Case Western Reserve University-MSASS. She earned her Doctoral Degree at Illinois School of Professional Psychology in Schaumburg, Illinois. She is a licensed psychologist who provides individual and family counseling. She has over sixteen years of experience in the mental health field in various settings: outpatient, school-based, in-home, residential, psychiatric hospitalization, nursing home, and correctional facility settings. Her interests include conducting psychological evaluations and public speaking. She utilizes a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approach and is currently advancing her training in this area through The Cleveland Center for Cognitive Therapy. She works in the Wooster office.

Kim DuBose, MSW, LSW, TherapistMs. DuBose is a licensed social worker who received her Master’s in Social Work degree from Smith College in 2017. Her therapeutic style is relational and psychodynamic. She is primarily grounded in object relations and self psychology, but she integrates other theories and approaches, such as CBT and ACT, into her practice to meet her clients’ needs. She provides individual therapy for adults and late adolescents presenting with a myriad of issues such as depression, anxiety, early developmental trauma, family conflict, interpersonal and relationship issues, grief, and life transitions. She sees her clients as whole people and considers the intersectionality of race, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, cultural and socioeconomic contexts in the lives of her clients. Ms. DuBose takes a warm, empathetic and non-judgmental approach in working with clients and can also be more directive and challenging when necessary. She recognizes that, despite extraordinary impediments, change is both difficult and possible. She considers it an honor and a privilege to bear witness to clients’ narratives and to work with them in navigating through their pain. Ms. DuBose works in the Orrville and Wooster offices.

Rhonda Johnston, M.A., LPCC-S, Therapist
Ms. Johnston is a licensed professional clinical counselor who received her master’s degree in counseling from South University and her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Louisville. She provides individual and family therapy to adults and older adolescents. Ms. Johnston has worked extensively with trauma survivors and also has experience with a wide range of concerns such as anxiety, depression and grief. She uses a variety of treatment modalities including Solution Focused, Narrative and Cognitive-Behavioral methods. Ms. Johnston works part-time in the Wooster office. |
Sharon Kephart, MSW, LISW-S, Therapist
Ms. Kephart is an Independent Licensed Social Worker. Her master’s degree in social work was obtained from The University of Akron. Ms. Kephart works with adults and has experience in issues involving grief and loss, stress, anxiety, depression, abuse, and adjustment disorders. |

Sumathi Muddenahalli, M.Ed., LPC, Therapist
Ms. Muddenahalli is a Licensed Professional Counselor who received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from The Ohio State University and The University of Akron respectively. She has earned her master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She provides individual, group, and couples therapy. Sumathi enjoys working with adolescent, adult, and older adult populations and takes keen interest in working with the people of color and LGBTQ population. Having worked with teens at a correctional facility and at a school-based setting, she is experienced in facilitating pre-teen and teen support groups around the topics of self-harming, anger management, bullying, anxiety, depression, and relational issues. She provides individual and group substance abuse counseling therapies as well. She uses Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. Ms. Muddenahalli works in the Wooster office.

Mona Park, MS, LPCC-S, Therapist
Ms. Park is a licensed professional counselor who received her master’s in mental health counseling from Capella University and her bachelor’s in psychology from Ohio State University. She provides individual, group, couples, and family therapy. Ms. Park enjoys working with children, adolescents and adults involving mood, anxiety, conduct and trauma related disorders. Ms. Park uses Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy, Mindfulness and Reality Therapy. Ms. Park works in the Wooster office. |
Bruce Sampsel, Ph.D., Psychologist
Dr. Sampsel earned his doctorate in clinical psychology from The University of Cincinnati. He has extensive experience providing psychological services to children, adolescents, adults, and families. He treats a variety of problems including mood and anxiety disorders, primarily using a cognitive-behavioral approach. |
Mark Weaver, MA, LPCC-S
Mr. Weaver is a professional clinical counselor who obtained his Master’s Degree from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and came to The Counseling Center in 1985. He has completed advanced training in cognitive therapy from The Cleveland Center for Cognitive Therapy and is a trained facilitator for The Incredible Years parenting program for parents of pre-school aged children, the Parent Project parenting program for parents of out of control adolescents, and the QPR suicide prevention program. He has experience in working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. Mr. Weaver works in the Millersburg office. |
