The Counseling Center of Wayne and Holmes Counties

The Counseling Center has been serving Wayne/Holmes area residents since 1953. The Counseling Center is a community behavioral health agency headquartered in Wooster, a medium-sized college town, located in scenic rural Northeastern Ohio within 30-60 minutes of Akron, Canton, Cleveland and Mansfield. With offices in Wooster, Millersburg, Orrville and Rittman, The Counseling Center provides assistance to over 5,000 individuals and families each year. Our staff includes social workers, case managers, counselors, psychologists, psychiatrists, and psychiatric nurses. The Center provides an array of programs and services designed to treat behavioral health and emotional problems in both children and adults, as well as ongoing recovery services and prevention programs.

The Counseling Center

We are a private, not-for-profit 403(b) corporation, who provides comprehensive and confidential mental health services in Wayne and Holmes Counties. We help over 5,000 individuals each year from young children to older adults. Typical issues for which people seek assistance include:

  • depression
  • anxiety
  • child behavior difficulties
  • relationship problems 
  • grief and loss 
  • sexual and physical abuse 
  • suicide
  • stress related disorders 
  • trauma

We provide services on a nondiscriminatory basis, ensuring everyone has access to the support they need. You can easily arrange services by calling any of our office locations.

Every Little Bit Helps

​The Counseling Center of Wayne and Holmes Counties is registered as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides a comprehensive range of behavioral health services to a wide variety of community residents. Contributions to the Counseling Center are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. No goods or services were provided in exchange for your donation.


Donations can be made to the Counseling Center or to the following specialty funds:


  • Special Aftercare Needs Fund - for persons with serious and persistent mental illnesses.
  • Hammond Fund - this fund is mainly to help persons establish a community residence after a hospitalization
  • Specialized Services for Children Fund 
  • Staff education and development
  • Mental Health Treatment Services

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

HSRA:  The National Health Service Corps (NHSC) builds healthy communities in areas of the United States with limited access to care. NHSC wants everyone to be healthy, so they support more than 17,000 primary care medical, dental, and behavioral health providers through scholarships and loan repayment programs for working in high-need areas. TCC is an accredited agency through NHSC.

The Counseling Center has approximately 120 staff members, whom we view as our most valuable asset. We take pride in the qualifications, skills and professionalism of our large and diverse clinical staff. We provide competitive reimbursement rates, comprehensive employee benefits packages, provision of ample professional development support, and efforts to include staff in both program innovation and administrative decision-making processes.


We strive to employ and retain the highest quality professionals from the fields of psychiatry, psychology, social work, counseling, and nursing. The Center has full- and part-time positions for Ohio licensed mental health professionals and employs new graduates with behavioral health training/degrees and various qualified clinical support specialists.

All Full-Time positions carry a full slate of benefits including Health, Dental, Vision, company paid Life Insurance and Long-Term Disability, generous PTO, affordable optional additional term life insurance and short-term disability insurance.


Additionally, clinical provider staff (counselors, nurses, psychiatric nurse practitioners, psychiatrists, psychologists) may be eligible for student loan forgiveness programs. 


INTERNSHIPS
